The Seashell of Lisson Grove
Been best known for amazing fish and chips for over 60 years!
There are few things that go together more perfectly than freshly battered fish served with piping hot chips. It’s no surprise Winston Churchill once called fish & chips “the good companions”.
After the First World War, dining rooms at 35 Lisson Grove opened for business preparing and serving cooked fish. It was from these humble beginnings that the restaurant we know today was born. Named ‘The Sea Shell’ in 1964, the restaurant moved to the corner of Lisson Grove and Shroton Street, a site that had once been completely destroyed by bombing in WWII.
The desire to provide Londoners with the very best fish and chips played an important role in establishing the reputation of the restaurant. That early vision and purpose-made The Seashell of Lisson Grove grow from a twelve-seat fast food bar into one of London’s busiest and best-known fish & chips restaurants. Today, our family-run restaurant is loved by locals, tourists, and celebrities alike, spanning the worlds of music, film, and World politics.
We also have a beautiful private dining room that can comfortably sit 14-16 guests. So whether it’s at our restaurant, our traditional takeaway, or our private dining room, we would be delighted to welcome you.
